Nitrogen heteroaromatic cations by [2+2+2] cycloaddition.
A modular approach to the construction of monocationic quaternary N-heteroaromatic frameworks was developed capitalizing on a direct pyridine-type nitrogen quaternization followed by metal-catalyzed [2+2+2] cycloaddition with gaseous acetylene. The flexibility of the route is demonstrated on 12 diverse scaffolds based on pyridinium, quinolinium, thiazolium, benzothiazolium, imidazolium, and pyr...
متن کاملEnyne ring-closing metathesis on heteroaromatic cations.
Cationic heteroaromatic enynes have been employed as substrates in enyne ring-closing metathesis, under an atmosphere of ethylene and using the Hoveyda-Grubbs catalyst, for the first time; the reaction affords new 1-vinyl- and 2-vinyl-substituted 3,4-dihydroquinolizinium salts, useful precursors for biologically relevant cations based on the quinolinizium system.
متن کاملComplexation of N- Heteroaromatic Cations with Crown Ethers and Tetraphenylborate
Study was made of host-guest complexation of neutral crown ethers with fiveand six-membered Nheteroaromatic cations and purinium cation. Complexation of tetraphenylborate with selected Nheteroaromatic cations and tropylium cation also was studied. Crown ether complexes were characterized by mass spectrometric and 1H NMR spectrometric methods and by X-ray crystallography. Fast atom bombardment m...
متن کاملHydride Transfer versus Deprotonation Kinetics in the Isobutane–Propene Alkylation Reaction: A Computational Study
The alkylation of isobutane with light alkenes plays an essential role in modern petrochemical processes for the production of high-octane gasoline. In this study we have employed periodic DFT calculations combined with microkinetic simulations to investigate the complex reaction mechanism of isobutane-propene alkylation catalyzed by zeolitic solid acids. Particular emphasis was given to addres...
متن کاملHydride transfer versus hydrogen radical transfer in thymidylate synthase.
The nature of a H-transfer in the thymidylate synthase catalyzed reaction was investigated by comparison of the wild-type enzyme with the W80M mutant. The nature of the H-transfer was not affected, as indicated by intrinsic isotope effects and their temperature dependence. These findings support a single-step hydride transfer instead of a two-step radical transfer.
